The patroness of Sfruz is Saint Agatha, celebrated on 5 February, to whom the Chiesa di Sant'Agata is dedicated.
An agricultural village tied to the cultivation of the Sfruz potato, it has craft traditions such as goldsmithing, woodworking and above all the making of tile stoves («stufe a olle»), built with a particular «secret» handed down from father to son and, until the early twentieth century, exported even to Austria and the countries of northern Europe; among the gastronomic specialities are cured meats, such as the traditional mortandela.
