On 10 August Sover, a municipality of 882 inhabitants in the province of Trento, celebrates its patron Saint Lawrence the martyr (san Lorenzo martire).
Sover changed its portrait in four years. The coat of arms adopted in 1980 showed a stone-pine branch below the peaks, a piece of landscape; the one approved in 1984, still in use, keeps the green of the woods and the silver of the snows but puts two memories inside: the gridiron of Saint Lawrence, the village's patron, and laurel branches for the fighting the local militias sustained against Napoleon's troops.
The municipality lies in the Val di Cembra, scattered into hamlets that can be counted one per ridge: Montesover with the church of San Leonardo, Piscine with that of Santa Barbara, then Facendi, Piazzoli, Sveseri, Settefontane. The parish church of San Lorenzo stands in the main village, and the territory borders Segonzano and Lona-Lases.
