The patrons of Anghiari are the Most Holy Crucifix and Saint Bartholomew, celebrated on 3 May with the traditional Festa del Santissimo Crocifisso.
The Palio della Vittoria is one of the oldest Palios in Tuscany: already established by the Florentines to celebrate the famous Battle of Anghiari of 29 June 1440, it has been run since 1441. Today, the uphill road known as «la Croce» is walked or run. Since 1980, every five years, the Scampanata folk event is held in May. The town also holds the Badia di San Bartolomeo and the Chiesa della Croce.
