Feast of Saint Justin
📅 Every year, on 1 June
On 1 June San Giustino celebrates the patron who gives the town its name, and the flower carpet is laid out along the old streets of the historic centre.
At Cospaia, today a hamlet of the comune, a state existed for nearly four centuries: the Republic of Cospaia, from 1441 to 1826, a handkerchief of land between the Papal State and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The town grew attached to Sansepolcro, with which it forms a single built-up area of some 26,000 people in two different regions. At Colle Plinio stood the villa in Tuscis of Pliny the Younger: the finds are in the museum at villa Magherini Graziani, and in the crypt of the main church are columns of African marble planted upside down, perhaps brought from there. The castle has belonged to the Bufalini since 1487. The 11,337 residents speak the dialect of Città di Castello, not Tuscan.
