The patron saint of Follonica is Saint Leopold, celebrated on 15 November in the church named after him.
Every second Sunday of May, the event «Follos 1838», devised by Don Enzo Greco and now in its twentieth edition, re-enacts the arrival in town of Grand Duke Leopold II of Lorraine and his family. Heir to the «Carnevale Maremmano», whose first edition dates back to 1949, the town's Carnival, revived in 1979, involves the historic districts of Chiesa, Centro, Zona Nuova and Senzuno, joined over the years by those of Capannino-San Luigi and Campi. Since 2017, in August, the town has also hosted the Follonica Summer Festival, a music event in the Arena of the Parco Centrale.
