"Chianciano, healthy liver": the slogan of its twentieth-century thermal boom still states the calling of this capital of waters between Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia. The Acqua Santa springs and Art Nouveau spa parks welcomed all of Italy — and the cinema: Fellini, a regular guest, drew from these spa atmospheres suggestions for "8½".
Today the baths have turned modern with pools and sensory spas, and the medieval upper village looks toward Montepulciano and Pienza, fifteen minutes away. The Etruscan museum, among inland Tuscany's richest, recalls that people took these waters twenty-five centuries ago.
