Feast of Saint Blaise
📅 Every year, on 3 February
On 3 February Alleghe celebrates its patron Saint Blaise of Sebaste, to whom the town's church is dedicated; among the sites of the territory is Monte Civetta.
The lake was born in a single night in 1771: a landslide came down from Monte Piz, dammed the Cordevole and buried three villages, Riete, Fusine and Marin. The water rose almost as far as Caprile, then the river's debris raised the valley floor and the lake drew back to where it is now.
Between 1933 and 1946, at the lake and in one of the village hotels, there were five murders, and for years nobody spoke. The case was reopened by a journalist, Sergio Saviane, who wrote about it and ended up tried for libel and in prison; but the carabinieri's investigation started from there and closed with arrests. In 1965 a film came out of it, La donna del lago.
