Saint Vigilius, patron of the land of the Roman Bridge
📅 Every year, on 26 June
Alpago celebrates Saint Vigilius on 26 June.
Alpago is a new municipality: it has existed since 23 February 2016, when Farra, Pieve and Puos d'Alpago ceased to be municipalities and became districts of a single one. It was not straightforward: a first attempt began in 1997 and involved all five villages of the basin, but the referendum of 2001 passed in only three of them and the process stalled.
It took another fifteen years. The project was taken up again in 2014, approved by three councils, voted by the Region and finally by the citizens on 17 January 2016. On the arms of the new municipality the three old symbols stand together: the dragon of Farra, the cypress of Pieve and the eagle of Puos.
