The Parco della Scultura in Architettura is a public park in San Donà di Piave known to scholars and enthusiasts of art and architecture. Its distinctive feature is that, among the greenery, it holds installations and sculptures by artists, architects and designers, from Bruno Munari to Aldo Rossi, from Sol LeWitt to Ettore Sottsass. In the area next to the park there is also a building designed by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza.
What to see
The route starts with Bruno Munari: Una scultura per gioco, from 1992, in Corten steel, and Passaggio a nord-ovest?, from 1995, in enamelled steel. Then come Alessandro Mendini's Monumentino triplo, Alberto Campo Baeza's La porta dei fiori, a cube of white-painted concrete with jasmine, Toni Follina's Varco in steel and wood and Riccardo Dalisi's L'uomo ed il suo Angelo, in Corten steel, brass and copper.
Aldo Rossi's La Casa Abbandonata, in exposed brick and wood, dates from 2001; from 2002 are Sol LeWitt's wall of slate-coloured concrete blocks and Riccardo Licata's Otto Totem. There are also Mauro Staccioli's Scultura 98, AG Fronzoni's L'infinito è un quadrato senza angoli in stainless steel, Emilio Tadini's L'uomo e la Luna, Ettore Sottsass's Interno notturno, from 2007, and the Padiglione Farola of 2008.
Visiting
The park can be visited freely all year round. In summer it hosts readings, film screenings and an acoustic music festival.
Our editors' tip
Do not stop at the lawn: the covered gallery next to the park shows further works, including Munari's two stainless-steel Fili Pesi from 1998, Dalisi's Il rumore del tempo and Sol LeWitt's Rainbow.
