The idea of joining Mason Vicentino, Molvena and Pianezze dates from the late nineteen-seventies, and on 13 April 1980 people went to vote: the name on the ballot was already Colceresa, but the referendum failed because at Pianezze the noes won. The project was taken up again in 2017 by the two councils still willing; Pianezze confirmed its refusal, while remaining happy to keep up agreements and joint working. On 16 December 2018 the referendum passed with seventy-five per cent in favour, and on 20 February 2019 Colceresa became a municipality.
The name puts together the hill and the cherry: the çerésa in Venetian, that is the Marostica cherry, which in these parts at the foot of the plateau of the Seven Communes is the local product. Before being a municipality, Colceresa was already the name of a tourist route following the paths through the hills. The coat of arms too is a sum: it holds one above the other the emblems of the two vanished municipalities, the stars of Mason Vicentino and the basin with the spouting fountain of Molvena.
