In the cellars that now house the museum, between 1971 and 1976, rested the barrels of the first DOC wine of the Aosta Valley: this was the seat of the Caves coopératives de Donnas. The vaulted brick ceiling is still the same one.
What to see
The museum gathers farming tools and everyday objects of local tradition, many of them still in use; it is run by the association I Monelli dell'Arte. Outside, the landscape explains the museum better than any caption: the centuries-old terraces trained on pergolas crown the village and are still in production. Vines are recorded at Donnas from 1200, helped by a microclimate that also lets olives grow here.
Visiting
The rooms are the cellars of the Anna Caterina Selve nursery school, named after the mother of commendatore Federico Selve, and were refurbished in 2003; the cooperative still owns them.

See the museum first, then climb into the terraces: half an hour inside and half an hour out, and it becomes clear why in this stretch of the valley wine counts for more than the mountains.
