The patron of Sarmato is Saint Roch, celebrated on 16 August in the church dedicated to him: during the celebrations, the «San Rocco» prize is awarded, better known as «San Rocchino».
The town still holds the fountain that, according to tradition, Saint Roch made spring from bare rock by invoking God, the 17th-century oratory, and the grotto of conversations with God dedicated to him. On the last weekend of May, uninterrupted since 1968, the Festa del salame is also held, dedicated to the typical local cured meat. The town also holds the Castello di Sarmato.
