The patron of Bagnacavallo is the Archangel Michael, celebrated on 29 September in the collegiate church dedicated to him: it is the town's most important feast, already recorded in documents from the early 13th century.
Only during the celebrations, in the last week of September, do the town's bakers sell the "dolce di San Michele", a honey and dried-fruit cake made according to a tradition dating back to the year 1000.
