The patrons of Montefiascone are Saint Margaret of Antioch, venerated in the Cathedral dedicated to her, and Saint Flavian, celebrated on 20 July.
August brings the Wine Fair, established in 1958 and still today one of the main events of Montefiascone's summer: it celebrates the town's historic wine-growing tradition and its renowned d.o.c. wine Est! Est!! Est!!!. The wine owes its curious name to the legend that, around the year 1111, the German prelate Giovanni Deuc, known as Defuk, a lover of good wine, tasked his loyal servant Martino with finding him the best. The town also holds the Church of San Flaviano and the Rocca dei Papi.
