Borzonasca

Province: Genoa · Region: Liguria · Population: 2,124 · Postal code: 16041

The monument of the village stands in the hamlet of Borzone: the abbey of Sant'Andrea, a twelfth-century building whose foundation is said to go back to 714, a national monument since 1910. In the parish church of the main village, instead, they venerate a crucifix that tradition says was brought from the East on the way back from a crusade.

The parishes here belonged to the diocese of Bobbio until 1989, when they passed to Chiavari. This is the upper Sturla valley, inside the Aveto park, and the municipal motto is Omnia Vincit Labor: work overcomes everything. The population is 2,124.
