The patron saint of Leivi is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June. The town preserves three ancient parish churches: that of San Rufino, in the historic centre, built along the old path linking the settlement of Ri Alto, a district of Chiavari, with the Bocco di Leivi, and one of the most important places of worship for the Leivi community; that of San Bartolomeo, which according to some historical accounts was originally linked to the Archangel Michael and later became a priory subject to the abbey of San Colombano in Bobbio; and that of San Tommaso, in the hamlet of Curlo, mentioned in records after the 12th century, whose religious community was merged in the 14th century with that of San Bartolomeo, marking the start of its slow decline.
The municipal coat of arms and banner of Leivi were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on 5 June 2001: according to some sources, the seven red lightning bolts depicted may symbolically represent the seven main localities that make up the municipality.
