Tribogna

Province: Genoa · Region: Liguria · Population: 620 · Postal code: 16030

The name comes from Tarbonius, the owner of a Roman estate: the place appears as Praedia Tarboniae on the bronze tablet of Velleia, which is now in the archaeological museum of Parma.

Here the stone is slate, and it is still quarried. On the balcony of the town hall there is a slate bas-relief by the sculptor Mirko Gualerzi: twenty-six panels telling the village's history as if it were a mythology — the feast days, the seasons, the things that happened here. The village looks out over the Val Fontanabuona and, opposite, monte Caucaso. The population is 620.

📅 Every year, on 11 November

Tribogna celebrates Saint Martin of Tours on 11 November, in the church first mentioned in 1261 and raised to parish status in 1639 by the Genoese cardinal Stefano Durazzo; on the town hall, a bas-relief of 26 slate panels tells the town's history.
