Our Lady of Concord
📅 Every year, on 8 September
On 8 September Albissola Marina celebrates Our Lady of Concord, in the town where ceramics ended up under your feet, along the artists' seafront.
The two Albisole are born of a flight. After the barbarian invasions the town split in two: one part stayed on the coast, the other climbed to the first slopes of the hills, and from that separation come the two comuni of today. The one on the sea is Albissola Marina; before it, right beside, stood the Roman Alba Docilia.
In 1122 the marquisate passed to the Aleramic Guelfo d'Albisola, and from there trade, fishing and above all ceramics began to grow. On 8 May 1343 Albisola, Celle Ligure and Varazze swore complete devotion to Genoa; the three towns did, however, get statutes of their own, drawn up in 1389. There are 5,564 residents.
