Feast of Saint Lawrence
📅 Every year, on 10 August
On 10 August Quiliano celebrates Saint Lawrence the martyr, patron of the parish church in the main town.
Quiliano was cut in two for almost three centuries. Between 1523 and 1525 Genoa occupied the fief, Savona answered with arms, and the agreement of 1528 divided the territory: one half to the Savonese, the other to the Genoese, each with its own podestà.
From then on the two halves followed the fortunes of their respective masters, and became a single comune again only with Napoleon. Before all that the town was called Aquilianum: in the Val Quazzola there survive Roman bridges of the first and second centuries along the line of the via Julia Augusta. In 1407 Quiliano had managed to elect a podestà of its own and win its own statutes. There are 7,336 residents.
