The patron saint of Bardineto is Saint Roch, celebrated on 16 August. The parish church of San Giovanni Battista, built and consecrated in 1720 in Piedmontese Baroque style, replaced the Romanesque church of San Nicolò as the parish church, which had held that role throughout the late Middle Ages: declared a cemetery church in 1479, it still holds valuable 15th-century frescoes.
Near San Nicolò stand the remains of an ancient castrum built by the Lombards in the 7th century; not far away are the ruins of the feudal castle, built in the 13th century by the Del Carretto family with an unusual sixteen-sided polygonal plan, possibly on the foundations of a pre-existing Roman castrum. Since 2003 a local historical group, «Il castello dei 16 lati» (The castle of the 16 sides), has kept its memory alive.
