On Pallare's coat of arms there are three firs, and they are not an ornament: they were three silver firs that had grown on the fallen trunk of a fourth fir, a natural oddity on the slopes of the Ronco di Maglio. Today only a dried trunk is left of it.
The name says something too: the first mention, in 1325, is plural — 'le Pallare' — because there were two villages, Pallare Superiore and Pallare Inferiore, and it was the French who made a single municipality of them. Biestro, the other hamlet, stopped being a municipality of its own in 1929. The population is 957.

Pallare celebrates Saint Mark the Evangelist on 25 April; his church, erected in the early 16th century, was completely rebuilt in the late Baroque style between 1809 and 1816 by the architect Porro of Finale Ligure, after damage from the 1798 flood.
