Plodio

Province: Savona · Region: Liguria · Population: 648 · Postal code: 17043

Between Plodio and Biestro protohistoric rock carvings have come to light, perhaps of the Iron Age: people who passed this way and left marks on the stone long before any marquis.

The village has no compact centre but hamlets scattered along the ridge between the two branches of the Bormida. For centuries it was a 'quarter' of Cosseria, together with Biestro, before becoming a municipality of its own. The oratory of the Guardian Angels, damaged by Napoleon's troops in 1796, is today the village theatre. The population is 648.
