The patron saint of Pallare is Saint Mark the Evangelist, celebrated on 25 April. The parish church dedicated to him was erected in the early 16th century; the bell tower was raised in 1623 and the church was considerably embellished in 1698. Following damage caused by the 1798 flood, the building was completely rebuilt, its orientation also changed, between 1809 and 1816, in the late Baroque style, to a design by the architect Porro of Finale Ligure: inside stands a fine crucifix behind the altar.
The first mention of Pallare, then called «le Pallare», in the plural, because the town was divided into the two quarters of Pallare Superiore and Inferiore, dates from 1325. The town also preserves the parish church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia, in the hamlet of Biestro, built in 1663 by Pompeo Del Carretto to replace the old parish church already mentioned in 1245 and today used as an oratory of the Disciplinanti, which houses wooden statues by Antonio Brilla.
