Saint James the Greater, patron of a town founded by Dalmatian exiles
📅 Every year, on 9 August
San Giacomo degli Schiavoni celebrates Saint James the Greater on 9 August, also depicted on the municipal coat of arms; once the Casale di San Giacomo, the town was repopulated in the 16th century by a colony of Dalmatian Slavs fleeing Ottoman invasions.
