The patron saint of Scapoli is Saint George, celebrated on 23 April. No less deeply felt is the tradition of the Bonfire of Saint George, on 22 April: bonfires are lit in various hamlets in honour of the protector saint, around which the community gathers.
Scapoli is known worldwide for its bagpipe tradition: since 1975, every year on the last weekend of July, the Festa della Zampogna is held, drawing thousands of people. Since 2002 the International Bagpipe Museum «P. Vecchione» has been housed in Palazzo Mancini, the birthplace of the Scapoli-born scholar and writer Luigi Mancini; the town also preserves a second permanent exhibition, with original bagpipe models coming also from Scotland, Romania and Turkey.
