The patron saint of Rionero Sannitico is Saint Marianus the martyr, celebrated on 30 April.
The Carafa family is the one that most shaped the town's development since the settlement's beginnings, leaving marks still visible today: the castle, now left to ruin by its current owners, and the adjoining church, from the 17th century, also in a compromised state of conservation due to wars and seismic events. The mother church, dedicated to San Bartolomeo Apostolo and built in 1717, is instead the greatest artistic example among the religious buildings that survived war and earthquakes: inside it still preserves 18th-century frescoes of undoubted historical-artistic value, while of others, severely damaged by the 1984 earthquake, only a few photographs remain, testimony to more flourishing times for the church.
