On 7 August Sessano del Molise, a municipality of 744 inhabitants in the province of Isernia, celebrates its patron Saint Donatus the martyr (san Donato martire).
Mino Pecorelli came from Sessano, the journalist who ran the OP agency in Rome: he was shot dead in the street in 1979, and nobody has ever been convicted for it.
The village, 744 residents, lies between Isernia and the mountains of Frosolone, and has an eighteenth-century parish church, the Assunta. Of the old crafts, woodworking is what is left: carving, inlay, furniture made by hand. On 6 July 2017 the Milano-Taranto, the historic motorcycle marathon, came through for the first time.
