Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel
📅 Every year, on 29 September
On 29 September Strevi celebrates Saint Michael the Archangel; the village also preserves the Castello di Strevi.
The name probably comes from Septem viri, a Roman priestly college, and the first mention, as Septevro, is in the foundation deed of the abbey of San Quintino di Spigno Monferrato, of 991.
But the arms, granted in 1936, carry seven covered gold cups and the words SEPTE BRIVM, and under that lies another explanation: legend has it that Strevi was founded by seven brothers fond of wine — Septem Ebrii — and that nearby Trisobbio came instead from three families of sober men. The place is made of two boroughs, Upper and Lower, which the Strevesi call Borg ad sura and Borg ad suta.
