Cerro Tanaro

Province: Asti · Region: Piedmont · Population: 670 · Postal code: 14030

Cerro Tanaro is a commune in the province of Asti, in Piedmont, and its name is a compound: to its own element the name of the river Tanaro was joined, and that is the official form, the one on papers and maps.

In Piedmontese, though, people call it Ser and nothing more: one syllable, with no river in it. Written name and spoken name are two words of very different length for the same place.
