Montafia

Province: Asti · Region: Piedmont · Population: 904 · Postal code: 14014

The arms of Montafia, in the province of Asti, are not a municipal invention: the comune took over the blazon of the Montafia family, which shares the village's name, and kept a plain red cloth for its gonfalon. What the place guards most carefully is its tree-lined avenue, recognised by the Piedmont Region as of notable public interest.

The parish church of Santi Martino e Dionigi has a yellow plastered front, divided by pilasters with Corinthian capitals and closed by a pediment, with a round oculus at the centre and an inscription running above the door. The bell tower stands alongside, in bare brick, ending in a dark spire.
