The patron of Piovà Massaia is Saint George, celebrated on 23 April, after whom, together with Saint Peter, the Chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Giorgio is named.
The town's most important event falls every year on the first Sunday of June and is the Fiera della Menta (Mint Fair); the churchyard of the parish church, which coincides with the site of the old castle, now gone, is a panoramic point over the hills.
