Feast of Saint Martin
📅 Every year, on 11 November
On 11 November Vesime celebrates its patron Saint Martin; the town preserves the Castello di Vesime.
The arms of Vesime carry a wild boar, for a reason: boar were hunted in these woods from the Middle Ages, and in the nineteenth century King Victor Emmanuel II came to the drives. So many that the villagers are still nicknamed i vèr, the boars. The red and gold bands belong instead to the oldest feudal lords, the Del Carretto and the Scarampi.
In autumn 1944 a partisan airstrip was built here for Allied missions and to fly out the wounded: the code name was Excelsior. By the cemetery stands a baroque church with a wavy gable, a Madonna on clouds in its niche and stone urns at the sides.
