Feast of Saint Eusebius
📅 Every year, on 2 August
On 2 August Ternengo, a municipality of 298 inhabitants in the province of Biella, celebrates its patron Saint Eusebius (sant'Eusebio).
The name ends in -engo, a suffix said to point to Lombard origins; in medieval documents the village appears as Ternengus. Its land covers about two kilometres of the central Biellese hills from east to west and less than a kilometre and a half from north to south, all within the basin of the Quargnasca torrent. The hamlets of Canei, Serracuta and Villa sit around the Bric Moncucco, while Valsera lies further south-east.
The arms are party per fess: above, on gold, the manor of Ternengo with its red roof and four black windows, flanked by a red tower with square merlons; below, on red, the two gold bands of the Avogadro of Valdengo, who held the fief with the lords of Buronzo. The castle went up during the thirteenth century and was heavily remodelled towards the end of the nineteenth; the parish church of Sant'Eusebio, of ancient origin, owes its present shape to a seventeenth-century rebuilding.
