Saint John the Baptist, officially recognised patron of Diano d'Alba
📅 Every year, on 24 June
Diano d'Alba celebrates Saint John the Baptist on 24 June: it is the main religious feast of the town, officially recognised as the town's patron saint.
Where the belvedere is now there stood a medieval castle. Vittorio Amedeo I of Savoy had it pulled down after the treaty of Cherasco of 1631, and nothing of the fortification is left.
That ground is now the square in front of the parish church of San Giovanni Battista, and from there you look out over the Langhe: the land around is all vineyards. The town also has the church of San Sebastiano.
