Serralunga d'Alba

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 524 · Postal code: 12050

The coat of arms of Serralunga d'Alba says in a few figures what the village lives on: on a gold field a wine chalice, topped by a bunch of grapes, with the letters S and A on either side. In Piedmontese the name sounds Seralonga d'Alba.

The castle was built in the fourteenth century and is the shape you recognise from far off: a brick keep rising straight above the roofs, a round tower set against one flank, and just below the top the rows of pale arches that run along the wall. The brickwork is dotted with small regular holes. The village also has the church of San Sebastiano.
