At 652 metres on Monte Bracco, under the overhang of a great balma, sits an entire village: Balma Boves. Houses, byres and tool stores, all wedged into the space the rock allowed, with the thrift of people who have not a centimetre to waste. It is now a museum hamlet.
The village at the mouth of the Po valley is called Sanfront, Sanfrount in Occitan. In 1940 the name was Italianised to Sanfronte, and in 1951 the village took its own name back.
