Torre San Giorgio

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 709 · Postal code: 12030

The arms of Torre San Giorgio spell out the two halves of the name: above, a red tower with Guelph merlons; below, Saint George on horseback running his lance through the dragon, the weapon held in his left hand. Between 1936 and 1945 the comune stopped existing on its own, absorbed into Moretta, and only after the war did it govern itself again.

The parish church of San Giorgio carries the date 1710: bare brick, a shallow pediment over the front, and beside it the bell tower, two clock faces turned to different sides and the bell chamber on top.
