Outside the village, on the road to Borgomanero, stands a small rough oratory, the Santissima Trinità: inside it keeps a vast cycle of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century frescoes, all by one hand, given to the Cagnola workshop of Novara. In 1994, inside the church, two cremation burials came to light, no later than the third century BC.

The name — Mummium in Latin, then Mumum, then Momum — has no single explanation: some trace it to the Roman family of the Mumia, some to the consul Lucius Mummius Achaicus, some to a Celtic place name the Romans turned into Mommio. There is also a large Lombard cemetery here, but where its village stood has never been worked out.
