Borgiallo

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 550 · Postal code: 10080

Borgiallo lies in the Valle Sacra, on the slope climbing towards the Quinseina: the municipal territory reaches 2,231 metres at the Punta di Santa Elisabetta, the southern foresummit of that mountain. In Piedmontese the village is Ël Borgial, and the coat of arms the comune uses has never had a formal grant.

Halfway between the village and Chiesanuova lies the hamlet of San Carlo, with the church dedicated to the saint invoked against the plague. It has a rectangular plan and a semicircular end; the date of building is unknown, and it is supposed to have been raised out of devotion in the early seventeenth century.
