On 26 September Brosso celebrates Saint Michael; the village also hosts the Mineralogical Museum.
Brosso, Breuss in Piedmontese, was the chief village of Valchiusella, and the valley once carried its name. The haematite and pyrite mines have stood idle since 1964, while the stone quarries are still worked. Along the Assa torrent stand roasting furnaces, washing tanks and forges: here iron was won without passing through cast iron, alla brossasca.
The coat of arms tells a legend: the villager Antonio Capra led a revolt against a petty lord's abuses; the lord, once caught, was shut in a barrel and rolled down the slope. On the square the town hall stands beside a church with a three-arched portico on stone columns.
