Val di Chy did not exist before 2019: it was born that first of January from the merger of Alice Superiore, Lugnacco and Pecco, after the three villages voted yes. It is a scattered comune: the town hall is at Alice Superiore, with Buracco, Chiartano, Cornesco, Gauna, Raghetto and Verna around it.
At Lugnacco the parish church of the Purification stands apart from the houses, almost an outpost towards Vistrorio: it is the valley's oldest place of worship, probably raised on the remains of a pagan temple. Its Romanesque stone tower juts from the front and the narrow doorway runs through its base, as in the French clochers-porche. Beside the cemetery a gneiss menhir, Bronze Age at least, has been set upright.
