Fiorano Canavese sits at the foot of the right lateral moraine of the Ivrea amphitheatre, on the inner side. The fifteenth-century ricetto has left some remains, and the Domus, a building of river stone and brick standing below the bell tower of the parish church of San Dalmazzo. Higher up, on Cordola hill, carvings have been linked to a Bronze Age settlement.
Between 1942 and 1943 the village housed a group of interned Jewish refugees from Austria and the Balkans; some were moved to Chiaverano, the rest scattered when the German occupation came. Almost all survived; two were stopped at the Swiss border, deported to Auschwitz and killed.
