On 1 August Issiglio, a municipality of 425 inhabitants in the province of Turin, celebrates its patron San Pietro in Vincoli.
Issiglio — Isèj in Piedmontese — lies in the Valchiusella, on the right bank of the Savenca near its meeting with the Chiusella. The arms say as much: a chestnut branch with three open burrs on red, three silver trout on blue. Woodland and water.
The cemetery church of San Pietro in Vincoli was Vidracco's parish church too until 1696; when the parishes split, Issiglio built a new one under the same name. The old one kept its Romanesque apse with corbel arches and fifteenth-century frescoes found under the whitewash: in the apse Christ blessing in a mandorla of light, the open book reading Ego sum lux mundi, the Tetramorph around him. The painter is unknown.
