Perosa Canavese grew up beside a village that is gone, Moyrano, wiped out by plague and by the raids of passing armies. In 1263 fifty-four men of Perosa and Moyrano swore to the same convention: for two settlements that size, a great many.
The coat of arms carries the brick gate-tower still rising over a stretch of the Ayrale walls, with its arched passage and two tiers of windows, and the golden lozenges taken from the blazon of the counts of San Martino, who held the fief. In the late eighteenth century the Ramera worked here, the copper foundry of the Perrone di San Martino: today it is a farmstead.
