Scarmagno is scattered over several hamlets; at Masero stands the church of Sant'Eusebio, of the late tenth century: walls of cobble and stone, blind arches under the eaves, two round-headed windows and, inside, a fresco dated 1424 attributed to Domenico della Marca di Ancona. The Canavese stretch of the Via Francigena passes here.
The coat of arms holds three things: the capital S that opens the name, a gold pair of scales and a chestnut tree. In the mid-sixties the village, which until then lived off its fields, opened the plain before the houses to an Olivetti plant, and many left farming for the factory.
