Vialfrè

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 254 · Postal code: 10090

Three black wolves with red eyes walk across the arms of Vialfrè: they recall the Tuchinaggio, the popular revolt that ran through the Canavese in the fourteenth century, in which the village actively took part. Below are nine gold lozenges three by three, from the arms of the counts of San Martino, lords here in the Middle Ages and caught up in the Guelph and Ghibelline fight. They hint at the shape of crystals too, for the hill under the village belongs to the Ivrea morainic amphitheatre, the quaternary glacial complex whose best known part is the Serra.

The cemetery church of San Pietro keeps an eleventh-century bell tower; the parish church is dedicated to saints Peter and Paul. The western part of the territory lies in a site of Community importance on the right moraine of Ivrea, protecting a wetland with a peat bog.
