Prascorsano

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 781 · Postal code: 10080

Prascorsano is a village in the Metropolitan City of Turin; in Piedmontese, Spracorsan. Its arms carry two things only: on one side the bell tower of the church of Nostra Signora del Carmine, on the other the arms of the Valperga, lords of the place.

The Carmine church stands at the cemetery and dates from the twelfth century. From afar what shows is the tower: split stone and courses of brick, with two tiers of paired windows in terracotta frames. Inside are frescoes of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, among them the Apostles by the painter known as the Master of the Apostles of Prascorsano, a name this village gave him.
