The Nativity of Mary, patron of the town of the Rea Botanical Garden
📅 Every year, on 8 September
Trana celebrates the Nativity of Mary on 8 September, in the church dedicated to her.
On Monte Pietraborga above the village lie little-known megalithic sites: dry-stone walls that are probably what is left of the earliest houses, painted caves, menhirs and cup-marks, all of it from the fourth and third millennia BC. On the summit, from which you can see as far as Turin and the Avigliana lakes, stands a cross set up in 1900 and put back on its feet more than once by local volunteers.
Below, between Trana and the lake basin, there is a peat marsh where grey and great white herons, buzzards, harriers and carnivorous plants can be found. The town's emblem, though, is the Orsini tower, on a hill just outside the built-up area.
