Feast of Saint Lawrence and Saint Firminus
📅 Every year, on 25 September
On 25 September Loranzè celebrates its patrons Saint Lawrence and Saint Firminus of Amiens; the village's parish church is dedicated to Saint Lawrence.
The Canavese historian Pietro Azario calls Loranzè Laurenciacum, or Lorenzato: a holding of the Lorenzato consorteria, a branch of the counts of San Martino and lords of the Castrum Lorenzate. That castle returns on the town's arms, red on blue, beside a golden ear of maize and a bunch of black grapes.
The Castel Rosso was begun in the eleventh century. The parish church of Saint Lawrence has a facade ruled by pilasters, with an oval eye above the doorway; the bell tower on its left has the clock and an open belfry. In 1929 the commune was merged with Colleretto Giacosa, Parella, Quagliuzzo and Strambinello into one body called Pedanea; the five were autonomous again in 1947.
