Vallo Torinese

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 785 · Postal code: 10070

Vallo lies in the Ceronda valley and takes in the valley of the Rio Tronta, which flows into the Ceronda. Towards Varisella is the hamlet of Gaiera; lower down, towards Fiano, the one called Spagna. The village history is tied to the Visconti di Baratonia, who took their name from the settlement of Baratonia, now in the comune of Varisella.

In 1927 Vallo ceased to be a comune: it was absorbed into Fiano, as Varisella was, and waited until 1954 for its autonomy. To the north-west the boundary follows the watershed between the Ceronda and the Stura di Lanzo, between Monte Druina and Monte Corno.
